I remember the drone of the engine amongst the sounds of tyres humming on bitumen and the voices of my family lulling me to sleep. We had been driving for a long time, I was content, I felt secure.
I had turned 5, four months ago, I lay nestled in the back of my parents old station wagon, worn suitcases stacked around me. We are on our way to the oceanliner HMAS Australis. We were emigrating to Australia. Emigrating often can mean fleeing from that which cannot be outrun.

Born to Die
Quite a few years ago I realized that I was Born to Die.
Death is a reality for all of us. The great thing is that in many ways we can choose how we lay down our lives in a way that brings glory our God and His love and also life to the lost..
If you profess Jesus as Lord and Saviour you need to accept the fact that Christians are Born to Die.
This death need not consist of being crucified upside down for you faith. It usually means a minute by minute, hour by hour, day, week, month, lifetime of decisions to lay aside your own life and rather live your life in a way that loves others the way our Saviour loved us.
It is often easier to chose the path of least resistance, but the reality is that greatest growth in our character and heart often comes from times of hardship and sacrifice that refines impurities from our lives.
